Circumstances:
The crew left RAF Driffield at 2036LT on a bombing mission to Cambrai. While cruising over the region of Abbeville, the captain decided to reduce his altitude and attempted an emergency landing for unknown reason. The aircraft came to rest in a pasture and was damaged beyond repair while all five occupants escaped unhurt.
