Circumstances:
While approaching Nanaimo Airport runway 16 by night, the twin engine airplane crashed in unknown circumstances in a wooded area located on Gabriola Island, about 11 km north of the airfield. The aircraft was destroyed by impact forces and a post crash fire and all three occupants were killed.
